Question 5

Question 5: How did you attract/address your audience?

I interviewed a male aged 19 and a female aged 16 both interested in RnB music and asked them to give me feedback on my magazine and their opinions on it to see how well i had attracted/addressed my audience, i thought this was the most effective way, to actually ask people included in my 'audience' I asked them a few questions on how conventional they thought my magazine was and what they thought about the overall magazine.

Front cover pictures

I set up the lighting in the green room to take my front cover pictures, I used soft box lights and set them so there was the correct amount of light on my model and made the pictures look professional and so there would be less editing to do on the images on Photoshop making the pictures look real and less edited.

Model for front cover

I did my models make-up to make her look like an RnB artist

I gave her dark eye shadow and lips because this make-up reflects RnB artists, dark and bold make-up

Pictures taken 3

I didn't think any of the photos i'd previously taken were suitable to use for my front cover and none of them looked appropriate for my magazine so I decided to take some more, I chose a model I knew would take it seriously and suit the genre of my magazine, I did her hair and make-up to make her look more 'RnB' and made her stand in postions that represent the genre and fit with the magazine.

Front cover analysis

After finishing my front cover I decided there a lot of changes I need to make to improve it. First of all I am unhappy with my main image, I need someone who if more fitting to the R&B genre as well as getting them to pose better than in this picture. I don't know if I like the black and white picture. I like the font being black and red but depending on what main image I use I'm not sure if I will keep it black and white or not. I am also not sure whether I like my masthead font or not, again depending on what main image I use will depend on whether I will change my font to suit the image. I don't think my magazine really fits to the RnB genre, to improve this I think the best idea will be to follow an existing RnB magazine front cover closely, changing colors and features to suit my magazine.
